The Brione really changed in 2000. It was the year of the second major renovation after the one in 1968, during which an additional building was constructed next to the main building, which today houses the reception and the bar. The three-story building partly faces the road and partly overlooks the internal garden.
To be clear, it’s the wing we just renovated.
But let’s talk about the year 2000. Carlo acquired Villa Ester from the Fedrizzi cousins, a beautiful B&B that bordered our pool. At the time, the water was surrounded by a tiled edge that hosted the loungers, and around it grew a hedge of fir trees.
That day, with those expansion works, a Green Lung blossomed at Brione.
We built the house that hosts the Garden rooms, connecting it to the rest of the hotel with a glass corridor, and expanded the garden around the pool. We already had some greenery, like the garden along the road, but we can say that we truly became a GREEN hotel from that moment on.
Consequently, many changes came. And choices had to be made.
First, Carlo didn’t like the idea of placing “beach” umbrellas around the water and preferred to meticulously plant many trees on the lawn. Three olive trees, palm trees, eucalyptus. There used to be a weeping willow. The giant pine tree had been there for decades.
To create natural shade.
From then on, we became a favored destination for many of our guests because the intimacy and tranquility of the park-pool gave them the feeling of being transported to a peaceful little island. In short, relaxation.
We have always been a hotel for everyone, from families to organized groups, but the number of people who let us know they were coming here to rest has grown. Actually, we prefer to say REGENERATE.
<<We must protect this “mood”>> – we said to ourselves. It’s important to respect those who seek silence, but at the same time, a vacation spot must still be filled with joy.
We had to become a bit strict about acrobatic dives, and we ask not to enter the water with inflatable mattresses or play ball near the loungers.
We believe we are a destination that can appeal to a family with children, also convenient for our proximity to the lake and the spacious ground floor areas. Moreover, 5 of our new Oliva rooms have been specially designed for large groups, with large beds for the children, separated from where the parents sleep.
Simply put, we believe we can be chosen by those who feel that the atmosphere of our Green Lung suits their lifestyle. Not all moms and dads have the same needs. Some divide their lives between moments for their children and moments for themselves, while others try to live it together, finding a common balance.
If I feel good lying on the blanket reading a book, why shouldn’t my child enjoy being close by, drawing? If my mom likes to ride a bike and chooses our area precisely to follow this passion of hers, what prevents dad and me from enjoying diving in the pool?
But there are also those who prefer to find a mini-club. Which we do not have.
