We have a large, valuable structure with great potential. But like the trunk of an ancient tree that has been cut, it reveals many GROWTH RINGS.
The bark represents the new Oliva rooms, modern and fresh, and the bar with its natural colors, renovated in 2018. It’s the image we want to present today, like a plant that produces new flowers and leaves every season.
The roots, the core of the plant, are our origins. The family tradition that has now reached its third generation: we, the grandchildren of the pioneering Grandma Fernanda, and the values of a “present” hospitality that we hope you feel as soon as you walk through our door.
But we have many rings in between. A yellowed hallway, an outdated strip of carpet, the frame of the interior windows in the restaurant, and its furnishings. The tiles around the pool are dated.
And then there are the Garden rooms, showing the passage of time with their cherry-colored furniture. The Standard rooms, left untouched by the 2024 renovations, have less welcoming bathrooms or windows that don’t insulate well against street noise.
In short, we are large, but beneath a sturdy and fragrant bark, there is a part of the trunk that is weaker.
“Big” projects can’t be tackled every year. They need to be amortized, with the hope that unforeseen but inevitable expenses won’t slow down the journey too much. A stove might break… a boiler might malfunction… computers, bathroom drains…
In this PAUSE BETWEEN 2024 AND 2025, we focused on the health of the trunk. Not covering up issues with a “facelift,” but addressing at the root what we can manage.
For example:
- We will clean all the tile grout in the bathrooms of the Garden rooms.
- We will replace the shower boxes in the 19 oldest Garden rooms, enlarging them where possible.
- We will redo the lighting and irrigation systems in our two large gardens: the “lung” of the pool and the precious green space along the main avenue.
- We will install minibars in the 11 Green and Balance rooms where they were missing, and in the new Oliva rooms, filling the “gap” left for this purpose.
- We will build a small canopy in the private parking area for the Green and Balance rooms, ensuring all guests staying there have a bicycle to move around with less reliance on cars.
- We will repaint all the rooms and bathrooms of the 19 oldest Garden rooms (in the red building by the garden), eliminating the outdated ochre-yellow ceilings.
- We will redo the garden facing the veranda of the bar. Where the trailer used to be, we’ll replace it with an elegant magnolia tree, carefully chosen flowers, and a well-maintained lawn.
We hope that those returning to us in 2025 will find us in perfect health. Like when you see a friend after a few months, and they’ve been eating well, exercising, and resting. Their skin glows, and their eyes sparkle with happiness.
