First, what do our guests expect from Riva del Garda?
To answer this question, we need to be more precise: when indigenous people like us talk about their home, we think of the whole Gardatrentino territory, not of a single town or locality. Gardatrentino is the definition of this small piece of land that lies on Lake Garda but still belongs to Trentino: namely Arco, Dro, Drena, Torbole, Nago and Riva of course.
Therefore, we imagine that our guests expect to discover a whole territory, that lies in the middle of the nature but is also rich of history, culture, and free time opportunities.
Where are you?
We are not “in the mountains”. A frequent question is, if the sun is warm enough to lie on the beach in a swimming suit and if it is possible to swim inside the lake. We understand why there could be this kind of questions, but it is disappointing to realize how little our region is actually known.
Riva del Garda lies only 69 metres above the sea level. If you leave the highway in Rovereto and drive towards Riva, you will notice that the street goes downhill. If you come, instead, from the provinces of Verona or Brescia you will notice that the coastal road of the lake is completely flat. Therefore, no, Riva does not lie “in the mountains”.
Gardatrentino is framed by wonderful mountains, that together with the sea make our territory a very distinctive and special one. Mountains also have an influence on the climate, not on the temperatures that, as in most parts of Northern Italy, can reach very high degrees, but more on the air itself. This means, that in Riva we can also reach 35° in Summer.
Does the hotel lie next to the beaches?
Yes, the hotel lies in the very proximity of the lake, on the main street and, even if it is impossible to see the beaches from our rooms, we are only 2 minutes away from the lake. Indeed, through a pedestrian path (50 m) you can reach the beach.
The beach right in front of our hotel is called Dei Pini, or “Purfina”. If you walk or ride the bike to the left you can reach Torboles’s beaches (ca. 3 km), or to the right you reach the Sabbioni beach (500 m), the sailing centre (1 km), or Riva’s city centre (1,5 km).
The beach is made of little stones but there are also large meadows where you can relax. There are no beach umbrellas or deck chairs. The water has lower temperatures than the sea: 20° when it is enjoyable, 24-25° when it is very warm. Lake Garda is very large, therefore, many streams flow in it and they could low the water’s temperature a lot, even from one day to another.
