#9 STEPS 227

The most interesting curiosities often arise by chance. One morning I was trying to write a list of why the location of our hotel could be considered an added value. The “location” is almost always mentioned in reviews as well.

To say that we are close to the lake is valid up to a certain point. How close? But close to what? Near which area of the lake? Why is it convenient to be close?

So I went to the door, it was a beautiful sunny day, and from the threshold of the entrance to our bar, which overlooks the sidewalk of the main road, I started walking towards the lake.
Counting the steps.

A small piece of pavement, then the pedestrian crossing between the garden where our bar-caravan stands and the Cantonati ice cream parlor in front of us.
In the morning this road is very busy, with bicycles, pedestrians, carts, strollers, cars, buses and trucks from suppliers. A little ‘you could see that I was focused on my steps, to someone who said goodbye I answered with difficulty in order not to risk losing count.
It is well known that we men struggle to do 2 things together and I represent the category very well.

In short, after crossing the street, I went straight to the small via Mann, where there are practically only tourist apartments. I’m not sure how many meters there are, but when I got to the bottom right on the edge of the cycle path that passes there I counted 227 steps.

While I was there I stopped for a moment, while the bikes whizzed on that beautiful stretch of cycle path that connects the historic center of Riva to Torbole, which can lead up to Arco then to Dro, Sarche and also to Ponte Arche passing through the Limarò gorge.

The beach where I came out is that of the Pines, one of the best equipped and popular on our northern coast.
Immediately on the left as you enter there is the Bar dei Pini, which also rents sun loungers (not very popular in our area, however), a playground for children and a large lawn where you can lie down.
Looking straight ahead, on the other hand, at the lake. Still with my feet at the 227th step I could see very well the body of water, the surf whizzing in the distance and a few people bathing. In addition to all those laid out on the stones, “our” bath-dry, pre-sunbathing.

I took two steps. I took advantage of it, even though it was a bit hot in my work clothes.
The scenery of our long lake is very different from that of a beach by the sea. Many walk on the pedestrian area, which cuts the bathing area of the stones from that of the lawn. In addition to hanging towels, there is always a large collection of carts for children, strollers and even sports equipment. You want it to be a dinghy or a mat or a SUP board, as is very fashionable today.

In the area of the lawn there are usually mostly children or families. It will be that the patience to stay with your ass on hard stones matures over the years.
I walked around the bar to “spy” who was sitting there drinking coffee, took a couple of photos of the lake and went back.

10 minutes in total? Yes, maybe 15. Including the time of the photos.
