The “VIPs” in our hotel are the members of our Staff. The acronym vip is now in common use and generally identifies “a famous”. A footballer, an actor, one of those who goes on the covers of magazines, to understand each other.
On the February issue of our magazine (we manage the Blog this way), the best known faces, the smiling ones in the foreground, we would like to be people who work with us. Our VIPs, very important “asganauei” people, are all those who make our work possible.
Because that’s how it is. The “service companies” such as hotels, companies where tourists are welcomed, live in symbiosis with the contribution of the staff of people who work there.
No people no hospitality.
We devote a lot of care to the search for staff members, because it is not enough to find someone who is able to do what you need, you have to find who is suitable to do it yourself.
The thing that is usually aspired to is to have loyal collaborators, so that they grow with the company and that guests can grow fond of over the years.
Then, and this is mainly true for us, the search shifts to availability. Intended as patience, a predisposition of character to be sunny and accommodating with everyone. Because a smile and a little calm usually do most of the work.
We believe we are very lucky.
Family management is sometimes a limit, because seeing your “boss” talking in the corridors can be embarrassing (alas, it happens every now and then), as is being seasonal, and therefore not being able to offer a job all year round.
Despite this, our staff is mostly made up of people who have been with us for many years.
Michele, the Chef, for more than 30. Elena, the one at the reception, is “from the family” (Linda’s sister) and she started working here.
In the restaurant there are the “stainless”, Maria (who in the past worked in the rooms) and Violeta, now symbolic faces, and the Maitre Andrea, who has been with us for a short while but “little” will already be 5-6 seasons.
Then there are Nikolin and Anna, who work in the kitchen, and the entire cleaning team. Our “Real Madrid”.
For some years they have not been collaborators directly with us, because we rely on Komplett which is a service company that allows us to offer better quality in cleaning and training people.
It can be seen from the uniform they wear, even if the faces are those of women like Elena (on the ground floor) or Carmen (housekeeper on the floors) who have been with us for several years.
For some seasons now, we have been trying to grow. We are trying to make our family management a more structured business organization.
Specifically, we are focusing on 3 things:
1- give adequate service to our new bar, which in addition to being a renovated space is today above all a precious business card. Because it is a living room for those who stay in the hotel and a showcase for those who, passing through, do not know us.
Therefore it was necessary to expand our Staff, which from this season should count on 2 new experts in the sector.
2- restaurant members of our Staff deserve so much of our efforts to focus on their well-being as workers. We would like that the energies devoted to the care of the catering service are not lost, and to do so we must make some processes more efficient.
Mainly, having to worry about the bar has sometimes been a stress for them that we will take care to limit.
3- Elena is an institution for us but she can no longer be enough, with the presence of the family at her side, for what we would like our welcome at the reception to be.
The guest deserves maximum availability so we were looking for a figure who loved this job, she spoke well above all German (Elena is better with English) but she could above all stay with us for more years.
Something that Joy and Giada, very good collaborators of the last three seasons, have not been able to do.
We believe we have found her, her name is Cristina. Who knows if she too, in a few years, will have become a face on the cover of Brione.
