#3 COMFORT MODERNO

Grandma, what do we want to tell you?! You were already ahead 60 years ago!

Meanwhile, you were a female entrepreneur in the 1950s. And women in the immediate post-war period unfortunately rarely had a leading social role.
Then you took a long view, taking over what is now Camping al Lago to make it the Pensione Brione. The first on the avenue. In an area where there was no beach yet but in a period in which the first trips to Garda were starting to be organised.

You had started with the rotisserie chicken. Then you realized that someone might stay to sleep and you added the rooms.
You were ahead of the tourist boom and in fact a few years later the Albergo Brione was one of the very first accommodation facilities.

Now we are doing something new, trying to come up with ideas, to offer something special to our guests.

Then rummaging through the drawers we find the postcards that you had printed 40 years ago to promote the hotel. How beautiful was Brione! How beautiful the garden was!

And do we want to talk about the slogan on the back of the postcard, where the address of the facility is usually written?

“Da Mamma Brione, cucina casalinga, trattamento familiare, parco giardino comfort moderno.”

We think we are original in using “green lung” or “active idleness” but you had already gotten there before I was even born.

GRANDMA, I think Brione was more beautiful before.

Today it is newer, we hope with the latest renovation it will be up to the needs of contemporary travellers.
The garden of the swimming pool was not there once, this certainly makes the Brione 2024 a structure of greater value compared to the decades before.

But as beautiful as you made it, impossible.

Did you know we wanted to repaint it green like it was in these photographs?
The technicians advised us against it because the gray lasts much longer, we lacked the courage to impose ourselves. Plus we couldn’t repaint everything, and green would have clashed with the red part that remained.

But… we bit our fingers when we found these certainties again.

And the garden??

It literally enlightened us to see this photo with the swings and flowerbeds.
Man, we should want to recreate THAT!

“Green lung” is not just the sheltered and silent garden of the swimming pool. The one on the street, outside the bar for which we invested so much to renovate, must be just as much a lung as it is.
An area of refuge for our guests. Welcoming those who arrive, are curious and want to stop even just for a coffee.
A LIVE garden, with a look at the life of the busy avenue but from a comfortable point of view amidst the lawn and plants.

This thought involves us even more because this winter we have planned the transformation of our street-facing garden several times. We had to stop only because the expenses would have become too much, including the pergola to cover our veranda and re-lighting the lawn. Among other things.

When dad found those postcards it seemed like a sign of destiny.
We are so lucky to have such deep and healthy roots. Thank you Grandma!
