#5 SIMPLY “CAFFE’”

When we renovated the bar in 2019 we had a clear idea of what we wanted it to become: a living room!

We were interested that guests could have more space in the reception, waiting for the check-in or the transfer for an excursion.

We liked the idea that the bar became a place of passage, a living space.

Above all, we wanted that service to truly become an added value of our hospitality.

Obviously some of our ideas were not feasible, because our intervention was still a restructuring. Some columns or walls had to stay where they were.

But the result gratified us a lot.

Today it is bright, open both on the reception and in front of the restaurant, it has a large glazed exit to the garden and on one wall it houses a sugar paper bookcase, a type of furniture that we really wanted.

That’s why we reluctantly call it “the bar”. We like Il Caffe Brione more, because it is much more a lounge.

During that time we had strong family discussions. Alessandra, who is the most entrepreneur of the 4, had a beautiful project in hand. The idea was certainly a winning one.

But we ran aground there, and Carlo found himself a few months after the reopening with the responsibility of deciding how to go forward.

In those days we had the good fortune that Andrea had met a good carpenter from Fiavè thanks to basketball, a young craftsman who even carves guitars as a hobby.

Hence the idea of using cedar for the counters, tables, cupboards.

The rest of the furniture then went accordingly, first with the choice of taking as much natural light as possible from the windows, then with that of concentrating on sober but cheerful colors.

However, we were anything but prepared on how to manage our coffee.

The fridges were new, there was plenty of room for bottles and a handy back counter to warm up sandwiches or prepare some dishes.

The highly efficient automatic coffee machine, 3 comfortable service counters and a unique garden veranda on our avenue.

However, we had never had anyone in our staff “for the bar”. We had always made do with each other as the previous service was limited to only a few guests in the evening.

Well, we’re still taking measurements today. We are trying to carefully search for products that marry the idea of living room and give us an identity. We still have a lot of ideas in the pipeline but we are pursuing few.

In short, the engine is good but we still have to learn how to drive the car well.

In the meantime, the new armchairs for the garden arrived last Tuesday and just this morning the umbrellas.
